The Early Years – A Magician in the Making
Rick’s fascination with magic began at age seven, when he spent hours studying illusions while his peers were busy on the football field. As a young magician, he performed for family and friends, honing his sleight-of-hand skills with each trick. He eventually got so good at his craft that his performances became the winning prize for his school’s fundraising drives. By his teens, Rick’s entrepreneurial spirit had kicked in. He worked every night at local restaurants, collecting tips, honing his skills, growing his network, and promoting his magic shows through flyers and business cards. Soon, Rick became a regular at children’s birthday parties and family events around his hometown of Cleveland Ohio, all while still in high school.
The Accidental Discovery of a World Record Skill
In college, Rick attended Cleveland State University on a marketing path while also pitching for the CSU Baseball Team with a 92-mile-per-hour fastball. One day, during a playful sock fight in the locker room, Rick threw a playing card across the room that landed with such force it actually cut his teammate. Amazed by his own precision, Rick began refining this newfound talent. Just a few months later, on March 21st of 2002, he set a world record by throwing a playing card 216 feet and 4 inches, securing his first spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
